About Us
Hello! We are Bubba and Paula Toney. We have been raising registered kunekune pigs for more than 8 years at Liberty Farms of Louisiana, a small family run homestead farm in beautiful Grand Cane, Louisiana.
The Liberty herd is made up of approximately 20 active breeders, plus retired pigs, yearlings and meat grow outs from 17 bloodlines. We appreciate the diversity of the kunekune breed allowing for pigs of all sizes and shapes that can meet a wide range of needs – breeders, meat production, and farm companions. Our farm plan is to “sell the best and eat the rest”; believing that the way to preserve and improve the breed is through utilization.
We are members of the American Kunekune Pig Society (AKKPS). All of our registered pigs are DNA tested, microchipped/ear tagged, and registered with the AKKPS upon sale.
Our animals matter to us! We are invested in every animal that leaves our farm, not just financially, but our time and emotional investment. We talk to potential buyers about their farm goals and expectations as well as practical preparation for their new pigs. And we do our best to be available whenever questions arise even after the pigs have gone to their new home.
We don’t sell pigs to just anyone. If you’ve taken home a Liberty Farms baby, it’s because we feel that you share a similar sense of stewardship for the improvement and preservation of this amazing breed.
American Kunekune Pig Society
The American KuneKune Pig Society is an official breed registry of purebred KuneKunes. The AKKPS is the first KuneKune organization structured as a non profit in the USA & Canada, and is member governed. We are committed to the preservation and promotion of purebred, pedigreed, and DNA verified KuneKunes.
